Since the inauguration of its first store in 1971, Beymen has shaped the luxury retail market in Turkey and continues to do so to this very day, both in the homeland and across the Middle East. Firmly rooted at its home base of Istanbul, where it manages no less than 36 department stores and branded standalone boutiques of luxury brands, the influential retailer continues to see room for growth in this bustling megalopolis of approx. 16 million inhabitants. Steeped in history, the city boasts a spectacular waterside location with an abundance of llandmark locations in a constant flux. In the latter category falls Tersane, a historic industrial zone which once housed the Ottoman imperial arsenal. Situated in the Camiikebir neighbourhood, the vast harbour-side plot straddles the Golden Horn, and has been redeveloped into a plush contemporary residential, cultural shopping zone.<\/p>\n

Occupying a whopping 12,000 sqm. (129,167 sq.ft.) across a series of interconnected shipyard halls, the premises have been designed by acclaimed Dutch architecture practice OMA, and sees a series of freestanding structures within the existing buildings. Shaping the Beymen store\u2019s highly adventurous configuration, shoppers navigate a sequence of galleries with distinct geometries and materialities, forming a new spatial which presents not only coveted merchandise, but also contemporary art installations to further elevate the shopping experience. Traversed both along and across, the galleries allow the retail space as a whole to steer clear from traditional retail formats and product presentations. The new Beymen store stocks a wide range of women\u2019s and men\u2019s collections by a wide range of luxury brands across the planet.<\/p>\n
