It’s on P.C. Hooftstraat, Amsterdam‘s golden mile of luxury shopping, where high-end eyewear brand DITA has opened its largest store to date. The retail space in the city’s tony neighbourhood of Oud Zuid measures no less than 198 sqm. (2,131 sq.ft.) spread across two floors of a traditional brick building erected in 1876, and features an interior design by the brand’s in-house design team. A timber façade in dark grey, adorned with mouldings and the brand’s name in brass lettering, beckons discerning eyewear aficionados from afar. Inside, a contemporary and refined shopping environment unfolds, which influenced by the rich history of craftsmanship and culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. The setting sees wall-mounted timber shelving paired with low cabinets.
Taking centre stage is a two-tiered display unit with a marbled base and glass tops which ties in with a matching shelving unit in the middle of the retail space and the sales counter. A similar display can be found at the far end of the store. Opposite the sales counter, in a dedicated wall-mounted cabinet, a section of DITA‘s eyewear collection is presented.
Flooring of large stone tiles complement the setting. Sophisticated lighting, embedded in the shelving, displays, and overhead, by way of ceiling light spots, subtly highlight the merchandise. A staircase leads downstairs to the store’s basement section which is used for storage and office space. The new DITA store carries the brand’s full range of optical frames and sunglasses, in addition to a matching level of service and eyewear styling expertise.
